St Bride’s Walking Group is not just a Walking Group, it is an outgoing and informal Parish Community Group which extends a warm welcome to anyone who wishes to join us although for safety reasons we have to insist that suitable clothing is worn including walking boots or stout shoes.  Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult.

Brief Resume of our Activities so far

Get your walking boots on and join us!

Our inaugural walk took place on the 9th April 2012.  Thirteen people attended.  We started at Kinlochard and walked about seven miles through Loch Ard Forest.  At the highest point we were treated to an iconic view of Loch Ard which is seen on many postcards.  After the walk we refreshed ourselves at the Forth Inn at Aberfoyle where everyone agreed that it was a great little walk and that we should try to fit a walk in every month.  That was the start.

Attendance at the walks has been excellent.  The lowest turnout was 5 whilst the highest was about 35, the average turnout being about 18 to 20.  The age of participants has ranged from a child of 4 to some oldies well into their seventies.

Our group has attracted people from all over Glasgow and as far away as Stirling but mainly from St Bride’s.

The outings are usually on the second Saturday of each month but occasionally we move this to a different Saturday if the situation requires it.

As we approach our 5th anniversary in April of this year we can boast that we have not missed a single month and have completed 59 walks on all sorts of terrain in all sorts of weather.  We have been as far north as Bridge of Orchy and Glen Tilt and as far south as St Mary’s Loch.  Included in our itinerary were Coastal Walks and Woodland Walks.  Most of our walks are low level and fairly easy although we did add in a few more undulating challenges including a couple of easy Munros.
